Active Power had just received their third round of funding when they contacted us to find a CFO that would lead and develop the financial and administrative organizations to be consistent with the needs of a rapidly growing business. We needed to find someone who had achieved success in a capital intensive, venture-backed, pre-IPO company. David Gino, who was the Executive Vice President of Finance and CFO at Dupont Photomasks, Inc., was just the guy. After joining, David was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in less than 12 months.

Active Power announced the completion of its IPO of 8 million shares of common stock. David was instrumental in leading the company through this by raising $138M in net proceeds. Their recorded sales were a 361.2% increase over the year before and their employees grew by 38.9%.
